Watching Lovely Runner in Peace — Thanks to My Ancestors
This past April marked a significant event: the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Vietnam, celebrated on April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025.
As far as I know, the event included a military parade and a drone light show with over 10,000 drones performing in the sky. In addition, there were fireworks displays and various other activities. The rehearsals alone attracted large crowds, and hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Ho Chi Minh City to witness this once-in-50-years event. Beyond the curious young crowds, the event also drew those who had lived through the historic moment of reunification — including war veterans who once fought bravely on the battlefield.
Alongside the beautiful images and moments that showcased the unity and strength of our nation, there were also some disappointing scenes — a reflection of the indifference shown by a small number of young people, who represent part of the country’s future. Fortunately, these individuals were vastly outnumbered by those who truly love their country and cherish the peace we enjoy today.
Recently, I read about a president of Burkina Faso, Mr. Ibrahim Traoré, who was born in 1988. It’s truly terrible that I only recently learned about the concept of neo-colonialism — the fact that 14 African countries are considered modern-day colonies of France. They have to pay an annual independence fee to France and are subjected to numerous imposed regulations.
The more I learn about the world, the more I value peace. I feel deeply grateful to my ancestors who fought for peace. They fought for themselves, for their families, or for their own ideals — but the value of their sacrifice endures for generations. Because of them, people like me can go to school in peace, find a job, and explore the vast world out there.
Fake food products are widespread, and with the government's tightening control, a wave of counterfeit items—from milk and dietary supplements to medicine—have been exposed.
I have piano lessons every Tuesday and Thursday. I'm not a piano genius, but I truly love playing—especially those moments when I can play a song all by myself. I'm currently learning Spring Time by Yiruma and hope to finish it in less than a month, because the next piece I want to learn is River Flows in You—the song I’ve always wanted to play most.
Lately, I've been watching Lovely Runner, a Korean drama that aired last year. It became a sensation and brought widespread fame to its lead actors, Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon. Honestly, the way people reacted and all the praise the show received definitely played a role in my decision to watch it—and it shaped how I experienced the story, too. The reason I watched the show was because I liked the main couple and their interactions, and also because of the rumor that they were dating. But maybe it’s not true — it’s been a year with no confirmation from them, so probably they’re not actually dating. What a shame.
Today songs,
