"Love like the galaxy" and "when the phone rings" series

Today, I'd like to discuss the similarities between two series I have watched: Love Like the Galaxy and When the Phone Rings.

The interesting thing is that these two series come from different countries of origin, and their settings are also different, yet I find there are several similarities between them.

Love Like the Galaxy is a Chinese historical drama, while When the Phone Rings is a South Korean series set in a modern-day context.

Let's take a look at the similarities between these two series.

Both series are adapted from novels. So, before watching the series, I already knew the entire main plot of the films, including the characters, events, and the twists. This did affect my viewing experience a bit, but if it weren't for the logically structured plot of the novel, I might not have watched the series at all.

The series Love Like the Galaxy and When the Phone Rings both feature main male characters with hidden identities. In Love Like the Galaxy, Ling Bu Yi is not truly who he appears to be, and in When the Phone Rings, Paik Sa Eon’s true identity is also different from what it initially seems. Both characters come from prestigious families and are expected to inherit their family roles. Ling Bu Yi is the son of a military official and eventually becomes a general, while Paik Sa Eon’s family is involved in politics, and he works for the Blue House. Furthermore, both characters are involved in arranged marriages with the female leads, and these marriages are orchestrated by the male protagonists themselves. 

The series "When the phone rings" is now on episode 7 with only 5 episodes remaining. All the plot will be revealed, and we will know the entire story, the conflicts, and how they resolve them. In two weeks, the series will come to an end. While I’m excited to see how everything unfolds, I can’t help but feel a bit wistful and reluctant, knowing it’s almost over.
